Although I broke a couple of those rules, here a a few that might be used to start a "don't try this at home kids list" when you defend your thesis.

1. Show pictures of your friends' butts.

2. Start with pictures of yourself in an attempt to identify at which point in your academic ontogeny you went wrong.

3. Show pictures of your advisors on top of a table on all fours.

4. Show close-up high resolution images of animals in various states of death, decay and putrifaction.

5. Show animated time-lapse movies of the same nature.

6. Indiscriminently plug your own published work.

7. Show movies of captive animals you have dressed up for your own (even if remotely scientific) sick and twisted purposes.

8. Show close-ups of your advisors noses.

9. Give thanks to people who kept you out of jail.

10. Discuss which drugs you were taking when you decided to become an anthropologist.

11. Refer to dropping out of high school as the best academic decision you've made.

12. Thank your friends for getting you drunk.

13. Inform everyone in attendance that they should lobby the state of Massachusetts on behalf of the plight of snapping turtles.

14. Give a committee member the wrong middle initial on the sign-off sheet.

15. Make analogies between how you were treated by a committee member and what that person is doing in a picture of him with a Wallaby.
