The House has approved a bill to protect wild horses out west from being slaughtered. Wild horses had been protected for over 30 years, but ranchers don't like them. Wild horses use up land resources. And when ranchers don't like something, there's always a contribution-hungry politician ready to protect them. Which leads me to the question: Why is the slaughter of wild horses an issue again? Because Montana Senator Conrad Burns inserted a provision in last year's spending bill that lifted the ban on sales of wild horses in 10 western states. Is Conrad Burns feeling a bit Frenchy, and...
